Ryder’s baby shower was a day that I had dreamed about for a long time.  Ever since Matt and I decided that we were going to start trying, I pictured the day when I would have a big belly, growing this life that would soon enter our world, leaving us completely perplexed by how we lived without him.  I couldn’t wait for all of our family and friends to be together celebrating the little miracle that is our son.

And I have to be honest, the day was even better than I could have imagined.  My sister and my mom planned out the entire day, not missing a single detail.  Thinking through games, food, decor, and my sister even compiled a video sharing memories from our childhood about why Matt and I will make great parents (cue the waterworks!).  Even my best friends from college were able to come out to Phoenix and celebrate with us. I won’t go on and on (because of course I could) but I wanted to share a few pictures of our special day with you.

We had guests guess baby Ryder’s due date. We had someone guessing as early as March 27 to April 16th (let’s hope he is not that late to the party!)
Ryder’s nursery (pictures to come) is a woodland theme, so we kept a similar theme for his shower. We had owl cupcakes, buckeyes, “birch trees” and decorated cookies with this theme in mind for dessert.

One of the things that was really special for me, was that we hosted the shower at Matt and I’s new house. This is our backyard where we set-up tables for lunch.
We had mini-champagne bottles as party favors for when guests left. They are instructed to pop their champagne when I pop! I love the thought of our family and friends all celebrating Ryder’s birth as we are.

We also played the game of “Who’s That Baby” gathering pictures of my family and Matt’s family as babies.
This was the picture that was captured after my sister showed the video she had put together. You can tell that I was a little emotional after!
My best friends and the women that will be my rocks as I make this transition to motherhood. Thank you for loving Ryder and I like you do!

You are so loved baby Ryder.  They say that it takes a village to raise a child, and I am so grateful for the army behind Matt, Ryder and I providing their support.

XO,

Arcadia Wife
