We all know that February is the month of love, but not everyone knows that Arizona’s birthday is also in February (on Valentine’s Day!).  So, to show my favorite state a little love, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things about Arizona.

Hiking: Arizona is known for their mountains with amazing views of sunrises and sunsets. What better way to get a little exercise and enjoy the scenery, then taking a hike?  A few of my favorite trails are Echo Canyon on Camelback and Squaw Peak.

Float Balloon Tours: I haven’t actually been on a hot air balloon (it’s on the bucket list!) but I have a few friends that have been on a hot air balloon ride with Float Balloon Tours and can’t say enough awesome things about it.  They are a local business that serves local food and drinks as a picnic after finishing the ride.  So dreamy!

The Canals: I love the canals in Phoenix. They sprawl throughout the city so you can bike, run, or walk for miles.  Last year when I was training for the Phoenix Half-Marathon, the canals were my best friend!

Sedona: That’s really all I need to say.  But honestly, if you are are in Arizona and never make the trip to Sedona you are really missing out. The views are breathtaking, the culture is unique, and the lodging is so cozy.  It is a great trip for a little romantic getaway.

Arizona Wineries: Just outside of Sedona there are a some amazing wineries. Page Springs and Javalina Leap are a few of my favorites, and if you are a wine lover (like me!), grab a glass and enjoy the cooler weather up north in the summer on the patio. It is incredibly relaxing, just the way to end a long week!

Grand Canyon: I mean we aren’t called the Grand Canyon state for nothing!  Take a trip up to the Grand Canyon and if you have a few extra hours take time to visit Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon (those are also on my bucket list!).

Spring Training Games: With Spring just around the corner, and spring training season officially upon us, can you think of anything better than spending the afternoon at a baseball game with a hot dog, cold beer, and good friends?

Aji SpaI am not usually one to discriminate when it comes to a spa day, but Aji Spa takes the cake for holding authentic to its southwestern roots.  Since enjoying Aji comes with a higher price tag , check out Groupon as they post deals occasionally.

Arizona Science Center here in Phoenix and Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff are great places to check out if you want to get out of the heat and learn something new.

I hope this list gives you a few ideas to get out and enjoy our beautiful state! Happy Birthday Arizona!
